This CD crowns an artistic activity that has been lasting for more than forty years. Our music, still today, is fed by a passionate ethnographic research effected on the mountains of the Appenni- no Tosco-Emiliano but mostly by our love for this territory we deeply feel to belong to. This last project collects some traditional oral songs together with otherones composed by ourselves but always belonging to the same culture, the same area and the same people who represent the memory of these places, a memory that is not a fading remembrance but a lively and crea- tive actuality. This cultural and musical patrimony, by many years now, merges the vitality and the vocal color with the sound migrations of the elegant arrangements by Giorgio Albiani; it is in this synthesis that the constant process of reworking traditional music develops, reaffirming its value in the contemporaneity.
This work wants also to represent a contribution to protect the dialects of Appennino Tosco Emiliano, which are the authentic linguistic soul of the ancient history of these places. We wish to dedicate our songs to all those people who believe in the importance of reminding their own roots and traditions also through music and songs which, in the popular culture, mean rather a way of living than a mere artistic expression.

Questo disco corona un’attività artistica che dura da più di quarant’anni. La nostra musica, ancora oggi, è nutrita dall’ appassionata ricerca effettuata sulle montagne dell’Appennino Tosco-Emi- liano e ancor più dall’ amore per questa terra, alla quale sentiamo profondamente di apparte- nere. Quest’ ultimo progetto raccoglie alcuni brani della tradizione orale ed altri da noi composti, che vengono dalla stessa cultura, dalla stessa terra e dalle stesse persone che rappresentano la memoria di questi luoghi, una memoria che non è più sbiadito ricordo, ma vivace e creativa at- tualità. Questo patrimonio culturale e musicale, ormai da anni, fonde la vitalità e il colore vocale con le migrazioni sonore degli eleganti arrangiamenti di Giorgio Albiani ed è in questa sintesi che si sviluppa il continuo processo di rielaborazione della musica di tradizione riaffermandone il valore nella contemporaneità.
Questo lavoro vuole inoltre rappresentare un contributo alla salvaguardia dei dialetti dell’Appennino Tosco Emiliano, autentica anima linguistica e sonora della storia più profonda di questi luoghi. De- dichiamo questi nostri brani a coloro che credono nell’importanza di ricordare le proprie radici e tradizioni anche attraverso la musica e il canto che, nella cultura popolare, sono un modo di vivere prima che un’espressione artistica!
